Me, myself ; I free essay sample

Just to be clear Im not opposed to learning. I love to learn. Just sometimes I dont feel I truly am when Im confined in the vicinities of my curriculumand some subjects bore me. OK, I am never going to spend hours reading Moby Dick just out of mere desire. I do not have an uncontrollable desire that coerces me to plummet into a physics textbook and read myriad pages on the forces of motion and I do not have a verbal vocabulary that connotes like I spend all my free time reading Websters New Explorer Vocabulary Skill Builder. I am the girl whose behavior perplexes others. I act like a complete buffoon in class and come out with a 5 on my AP Biology exam and a 4.0 GPA. In fact, many attribute my academic excellence to black magic. Those people I would say have a wild imagination. We will write a custom essay sample on Me, myself ; I or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I am a girl whose attitude towards learning varies. I would readily dive into a unit on Evolution but I would not touch a Physics textbook for any reason other than obligation. I read as many articles as I can from the YAHOO! Homepage but cant get through the 2nd chapter of Great Expectations. I am the girl who loves to sleep. I dont sleep a lot because I find it to be an auspicious life boat in a sea full of debacles nor am I a casual drug user. I love to sleep because I love to dream. Its the only way I can abscond to my future. When I lay my head on the pillow and close my eyes, my business grows and the orphaned children, abused women and destitute souls take center stage as I play a supporting role. When I sleep, my dreams come to life. I am the girl who dabbles with the verb, express. My mind is inundated with ideas that I put down in many forms -Poems, screenplays, novels, adverts, songs, designs. My wardrobe is volatile and my hair has gone through the extremities of the metric ruler and colors of the (visible light) electromagnetic spectrum. I am the girl whos captivated with criminology, psychology and human cognizance. I spend my free time watching The Mentalist, Lie to me, CSI and Sherlock Holmes and reading archaic cases of criminals on Wikipedia and Detective Conan manga. I am a strong advocate for womens rights and I cringe whenever some ignorant person informs me of my place. I am all these things but I have no idea what I want to be. What I do know is that I want to be successful. I have ambition. I guess thats the answer. Not black magic unfortunately, just ambition. My ambition has had the greatest influence on me. It makes me do things I dont like to. Because Ill be honest, writing a 20 page essay on the God particle doesnt catch my fancy.

8 Surprising Reasons to Live with Purpose

8 Surprising Reasons to Live with Purpose Do you wake up every day with a sense of purpose? I know I often don’t. I open my eyes in the morning more with of a sense that I will soon be dragged around by my â€Å"to do† list. First on my mind is my agenda for the day and all the stuff I need to DO. Or I go to my computer to let my inbox tell me what to do. Sound familiar? Living this way is one sign that I am not in touch with my purpose. And I don’t mean the BIG significant purpose that most of us think of when we think of â€Å"life purpose.† While some people might know what that is for themselves, most of us aren’t sure, or are afraid of not getting it â€Å"right.† Maybe we’re putting too much pressure on ourselves. Purpose is in the moment. Last week I went on a leadership retreat with the Wright Foundation for the Realization of Human Potential where the theme was â€Å"Purpose.† What I learned is that purposeful living is about living every moment with a purpose in that moment. It could be something as simple as giving our gifts or living with aliveness and presence, in service of ourselves and others. Purpose is who we are being, not what we are doing. What a concept. We can actually try on different purposes each day to see which one motivates us to lead a more fulfilled life. One of the moment by moment purposes toward which I gravitate is using my creative talents. To that end, I wrote a little song and made a video that I will share with you here. Despite the spoof on a commercial spot, this song is all about the real, scientifically proven benefits of living with purpose. Thank you to Rick Bread Kempf, Jacki Davidoff, and Tammy Taylor for singing with me, and to Silvana Favaretto for recording us on my iPhone! Here are the lyrics to my masterpiece, The Purpose Thermos: Purpose you’ve got so much to do Purpose much more of being you Purpose you’ve got a surplus So drink a thermos of purpose today. Purpose it’s who you are each day Purpose repairs your DNA Purpose you’ve got a surplus So drink a thermos of purpose today. Purpose gives you a song to sing Purpose gives you more mattering Purpose you’ve got a surplus So drink a thermos of purpose today. Purpose you’ll feel much more alive Purpose will rev up your sex drive Purpose you’ve got a surplus So drink a thermos of purpose today. Are you in touch with your purpose from moment to moment? What is your sense of purpose right now, reading this article or watching the video? How can you make a difference for others and for yourself in this moment? And this one? And this one? Please share.

Auto Ownership Affected by Automated Vehicles Essay

Auto Ownership Affected by Automated Vehicles - Essay Example Automation will also help safer transit-3 vehicle operation, potentially resulting in high cost savings because to reduced self-insured losses. In addition, partial automation in bus vehicles may lead to highly reduced headways and thus increased people-moving capacities in environments where capacity is a constraining factor. Impacts and independent future speculations This part consists an analysis of the possible effects of the implementation of autonomous vehicles on the society. Modern transportation has a very significant role in the world. Transportation is a very fast growing sector, which is greatly associated with new technologies. In this time, the technology is evolving so fast that it is hard for people to get used to it. Making educated speculations concerning the future developments and determining their possible findings helps people understand and prepare for these variations. This is why it is significant to determine possible results of the implementation of autono mous vehicle technologies. This part will elaborate on the socio-economic effects of autonomous vehicles. Safety Safety matters have the most critical impact on daily life of all the transportation problems. Accidents from the traffic sector have colossal negative impacts on economy. For instance, in the European Union, there are over 40,000 accidents with about 1.3 million accidents annually. Every life lost through traffic accident results to a very high financial cost to the community as well as its appalling social impacts on people. Community’s intelligence, work-force together with social values is lost with the people dying in traffic accidents. Injuries too have huge financial effects, because treatment expenses are very high and the injured individuals are unable to work for a given of time. The most efficient solution to these accidents is the implementation of much better intelligent vehicle safety systems which will gradually evolve into fully autonomous vehicles. In the long run the implementation of autonomous vehicles seems to be a very profitable investment. An economical analysis carried out on a recent European project called â€Å"eCall† depicts how intelligent systems can save the economy. The eCall project aims at implementing a special emergency system on every car Impacts on traffic, economy and society Introduction of a fully autonomous vehicle in the transport system, traffic flow would immediately change. Traffic is presently a nuisance to drivers almost all over the world. The average person in the United States waited for 26 hours in traffic during the whole year in 2001. This is a very great amount of total time spent doing nothing but waiting by a myriad of individuals. During the early stages of implementation to the highway system there would be a combination of both autonomously driven vehicles and human controlled vehicles. This could result to confusion and problems pertaining the reaction of motorists to the dr iverless vehicles and how efficient the autonomous vehicles can integrate into flow of traffic. The autonomous vehicles would be following all directions of the traffic while human drivers have the choice to go against the law. As period goes on and the autonomous car becomes a more familiar vehicle on the road, traffic

The Bluest Eye - Morrisons Attempt to Induce White Guilt :: Bluest Eye Essays

The Bluest Eye - Morrison's Attempt to Induce White Guilt I've heard the fable before, three times in fact. Originally, the oracle in question was always an old man, an Asian philosopher and blind. The boys carried in a live bird, not a dead bird as she described as a "small bundle of life sacrificed" or the absence of bird altogether. The boys asked the same question. If the philosopher answered dead, they would let it fly away, but if he answered alive, they would kill it and drop it at his feet, proving him wrong with either answer. When the old, wise, blind man was presented with the question, he pondered it a bit and deduced their scheme. He answered, "The fate of that bird is in your hands." Toni Morrison altered the fable in her Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech, offering her perception of it, which is understandable as she is a writer and is building an analogy to it. Writers often focus on perception in stories and some writers need to as in the case of Morrison and The Bluest Eye. The perception and point of view in which the story is told to the reader is essential for Morrison to build her case. She needs to suck the reader into her framework of thinking using stories of abuse and neglect to create compassion and sympathy for the characters of her story. The catch is, she's not telling a story so much as selling a product. When a good salesman pushes an item, the first step is to have the audience succumb to his way of thinking. Morrison's product here is a philosophy, an idea that is the theme of her book. That idea is that physical beauty is "probably the most destructive idea in the history of human thought." She pushes this idea right through the reader's brain. It is the ruin of the black girls. If only they were pretty. If only they had pretty blue eyes. We might be able to think of beauty as the bird. True beauty, in Morrison's ideology, would be the absence of the bird. Lacking in physical attributes, but representative of all things free and without boundaries. If the bird is present, whether alive or dead, the physical intrusiveness of it then defines its beauty.

High School and Younger Girls Essay

I chose to write this paper on bullying and its effect on school. In my middle school years, after I had moved here from Alaska, I was bullied a lot because I was new to the school and it was such a small town. It had effects on me that still affect me today. For example, if someone says my name or taps me on the back I don’t turn around because when I was younger girls would do that to me and then laugh at me. I feel bullying is a serious subject and that’s why I chose to look further in to it. The article I chose to do was Bullying in School: The Traumatic Effects of Bullying on Children by Dr. Terry Ehiorobo. The beginning of his article starts off by explaining how bullying has gotten out of hand and what is being done about it. For example, a child getting bullied ended up suing his school because on one was doing anything to stop the bullying, and he even won. In his article he explains different types of bullying situations using certain examples. Dr. Ehiorobo says in his article, â€Å"The world of bullying has a life of its own. It takes no prisoners and its effects can be long lasting and endemic in some cases.† Bullying is a very serious issue in today’s society and I’m glad something is being done to put a spotlight on it. If a stop is put to bullying kids will do better in school, therefor having a better effect on the rest of their lives.
